As a teacher, Dawn's goal is to produce independent musicians. She wants to ensure that her students have a solid understanding of good technique, theory and classical literature. Yet, she also includes the study of blues, jazz, Broadway, pop and church music so students have a well-rounded musical background. Her students participate in two recitals per year as well as a number of contests, festivals and community performances.
Dawn has taught piano for 18 years and also works as a music director for regional theatres. She has also composed and arranged music for children's theatre.
After graduating from Louisville's Youth Performing Arts High School as a piano major, Dawn earned her Bachelor's in Music from Harding University (1992).
