GIST LAUNCHES NEW PARTNERS IN EDUCATION VIDEO
LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 22 – Gist Piano Center has released the final installment in their “A History of Service” video series on YouTube. This fourth segment to Gist’s “A History of Service” series features five private piano teachers from Louisville, Lexington, and Southern Indiana describing the impact Gist Piano Center’s “Partners In Education” community outreach program has had on their teaching experiences.
Gist Piano Center’s “Partners in Education” Program (PIE) combines the interactivity of social media, the power of community collaboration and the excitement of live music into a true partnership between local music stores, piano teachers, music students and music-related community organizations all across Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Designed to enhance the teaching experience, provide students with meaningful musical memories, and to give Kentuckiana families the information they need to make the best decisions about their musical investments, “Partners in Education” builds a sense of community and collaboration between local centers of music education.
“The Partners in Education Program has brought so much excitement to my studio. It means so much to me and my students, especially the special themed recitals like Halloweekend,” says Louisville P.I.E. teacher, Angela Hartman.
As schools all across the nation cut funding for music education, it’s more critical than ever that local music stores work closely with the music teachers in their area to produce the next generation of musicians.
“When you open up the doors and you look around, there are lots of people out there that would like to make music and have a little fun. And there are lots of people that would even hope to dream of having a career in music, and they all need a teacher, and they all need help. And you know, that’s really what we’re supposed to be doing, and that’s what we’re here for,” says founder Ron Gist. With over 60 PIE teachers and over 3000 total members, Gist Piano Center’s Partners In Education program is now the largest program of its kind in Kentuckiana.
This new video will premiere on the Gist YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/user/gistpianocenter as part of the “A History of Service” series – celebrating Gist Piano Center’s 40th Anniversary.
